Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Release Date Has Been Delayed

After some confusion about the rumored cancellation of the Galaxy S26 Edge and how it might affect the release dates for the entire Galaxy S26 series, it initially seemed that Samsung was planning a normal January launch. Now, however, a new leak claims that the Samsung Galaxy S26 will actually be open in February, with the phones going on sale in March.

Reputable leaker Ice Universe, who has a long and accurate track record, posted on X that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will launch in February at a Galaxy Unpacked event, and that the phones will then go on sale in March. Ice Universe has consistently said this is Samsung’s new launch schedule, previously stating that the release had been “postponed.”

Previously, in November, Korean business and finance site ChosunBiz published a story claiming it had spoken with a Samsung source. According to that source, the Korean company would stick with its original late January announcement date for the Galaxy S26 series. If this schedule is correct, the Galaxy S26 series would go on sale in February, following the same launch plan as the Galaxy S25 lineup.

It might not be a real delay; it could just be the normal shifting of smartphone release dates. Samsung has historically released its Galaxy S phones in February. Previous reports have also claimed that Samsung cancelled the Galaxy S26 Edge, which was rumored to replace the Galaxy S26 Plus, and that this was linked to a supposed delay in the Galaxy S26 series.

In November, Android Headlines and tipster OnLeaks published CAD images of the Galaxy S26 Plus, along with additional design details. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus will be 7.35mm thick, similar to the Galaxy S25 Plus’s 7.3mm, and much chunkier than the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 5.8mm.

What we still don’t know is whether Samsung has entirely dropped the Galaxy Edge brand, or if it plans to launch the Galaxy S26 Edge in May 2026 (with a new-generation battery), as it did with the Galaxy S25 Edge.
