Samsung’s planned upgrades for 2026 are all the more important, especially since there probably won’t be many new features in the wider series. However, as recently confirmed by a leaker, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will definitely benefit from improvements. Both the camera and the display are set for major updates, and the top configuration will potentially offer even more RAM than previously expected.
Although the latest information isn’t really new, Ahmed Qwaider on X has now confirmed what leakers first pointed to last year regarding two key upgrades for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Accordingly, the aperture on two of the four rear cameras will be significantly wider to let in more light. The 200 MP main camera will see an increase from f/1.7 to a very good f/1.4, while the 50 MP 5x telephoto camera will jump from a below-average f/3.4 to at least f/2.9. In both cases, this promises less noisy and potentially less blurry photos, especially in low light, as the ISO and shutter speed can be reduced for the same exposure.
Thanks to a potentially improved 3x telephoto lens with a new 12 MP sensor, the Galaxy S26 Ultra may still deliver better photos and videos than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, despite otherwise unchanged sensors. While a significantly larger camera upgrade is already hinted at for the Galaxy S27 Ultra in 2027, the front of the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature something new: Samsung’s latest M14 AMOLED panel, dubbed Privacy Display. Ahmed Qwaider also confirms this privacy protection function in an X post, referring to the automatic feature for certain apps such as WhatsApp. Additionally, a demo video from Mobile World Congress 2024 demonstrates how this technology is likely to function in practice.
Top-Spec Dominance of Galaxy S26 Ultra: 16 GB RAM & Elite Storage.
Last but not least, the leaker has provided confirmation of the top-of-the-line storage configuration for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, featuring 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. However, some caution is still advised here. As earlier hints from Ice Universe suggest, this specific configuration will not be available worldwide, and some countries may only get 12 GB of RAM with 1 TB of storage. Consequently, where exactly the 16 GB variant will be released remains to be seen.
